A former L.A. drug dealer has moved to Houston to make a new life for himself as a married architect. Everything falls apart when he is suddenly visited by one of his former cohorts who comes carrying heroin. Discovering the dope, the architect flushes it down the drain. This sets up a series of tough customers seeking the dope including a Rasta hit-man, an ex-lover Dallas who ties him up and rapes him, a criminal called Billy with a penchant for torture, and a rogue cop. The movie opens in a Los Angeles convenience store one late Monday night, where a smalltime drug dealer named Nick (Aaron Eckhart) is trying to decide what coffee brand to buy. His ex-lover Dallas (Paulina Porizkova) and fellow hitman Billy Hill (James LeGros) are getting impatient and tell him to hurry up. Conflicts between Nick and the cashier (Luck Hari) ensue, resulting in Dallas shooting the cashier dead. Though the three attempt to cover up the crime, they are forced to also shoot a police officer (Bari K. Willerford) when he discovers blood on the ground. This is one of those movies that make watching a lot of lower budget, often overlooked movies well worth it.<br/><br/>Casey (Thomas Jane) is a former L.A. drug dealer that has married, moved to Houston and walked the straight and narrow for the last 3 years. On a Thursday, his ex-partner , Nick (Aaron Eckhart) comes to town and stops by for a visit. Nick leaves a suit case full of drugs on the guest bed and takes off to take care of business. Casey finds the drugs, flushes them down the kitchen drain, and blood, mayhem and and a whole host of interesting characters come out of the woodwork.<br/><br/>This movie isn't a family one to say the least, but if you enjoy such Tarantino classics like Reservoir Dogs, and Pulp Fiction then like me, you will love this one. There's a lot of swearing, blood, laughs, and generally odd craziness in this one.<br/><br/>It is an over the top, low budget movie that contains a lot of big names and is worth checking out especially if you love the aforementioned movies. A solid, intense, hard-core and suspenseful movie that has just the right touch of (dark?) humor. If you're tired of the typical, overdone, ridiculous Hollywood B.S. movies, how many big explosions and awful and unrealistic shoot em up gun fights that insult your intelligence can we take, then this film is for you. Fantastic characters that are wonderfully original and believable, and solid performances by all actors, not a weak character or performance in the film. Skip Woods' film is a breath of fresh air and I applaud his originality and efforts, his film has the feel of a cross between a Quentin Tarantino and a Cohen brothers film (not a bad mix at all in my opinion). This movie grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go, there's nothing boring or bubble gum about this film. The only disappointment is that nobody seems to know about it, everyone I've recommended it to has thanked me and shared my opinion on it. This film is a welcomed change/alternative from the canned Hollywood mainstream garbage being produced today, even with their big name actors, big explosions, special effects and huge budgets. It's a terrifically wild, intense, violent, graphic, humorous and raw (I mean that in a good way, no phony Hollywood polish here) ride.
